Hybrid Power Plant to be built in Zhanaozen

QAZAQ GREEN. An investment project by Samruk-Kazyna for constructing a hybrid power plant with a capacity of 247 MW is being carried out in partnership with KazMunaiGas, a portfolio company, and the Italian energy firm Eni S.p.A, according to a report from Samruk-Kazyna’s press service.
The hybrid power plant will combine electricity generation from renewable energy sources—wind and solar—with a gas-fired power plant to ensure stable electricity production.
Once operational, the plant will have a solar generation capacity of 50 MW, wind generation capacity of 77 MW, and a gas power plant capacity of 120 MW.
"Approximately 40% of the electricity generated by the hybrid power plant will come entirely from renewable sources, significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Currently, early site preparations for the gas-fired power plant are underway, alongside the construction of the solar power plant and tendering processes to select a wind turbine supplier. During the construction phase, up to 800 jobs will be created, and about 70 permanent positions will be available during the plant's operational phase," the press service stated.
