Investment in green technologies to be highlighted at Astana International Forum

QAZAQ GREEN. The Astana International Forum (AIF) will take place on 29–30 May under the chairmanship of the President of Kazakhstan. The event will bring together world leaders, experts, investors, and business representatives. The programme includes a plenary session and 25 thematic panel discussions. One of the key topics will be the development of renewable energy in Kazakhstan, according to Rustem Kydyrbekov, Deputy Director of the Renewable Energy Department at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in an interview with BaigeNews.kz.

“A broad range of issues related to renewable energy will be discussed at the forum. The focus will be on the global energy transition, decarbonisation of the economy, sustainable natural resource management, and mechanisms for attracting investment into green technologies. Special attention will be given to the development of renewable energy sources, as well as regional and international cooperation in this field,” said Kydyrbekov.

He emphasized the strategic importance of the forum, noting that it provides a platform to discuss not just technical issues, but also broader, systemic approaches to accelerating the development of renewables in the context of global climate and economic challenges.

According to the preliminary programme, the forum will feature a wide range of international experts — including representatives of international organisations, think tanks, government officials, and companies specialising in sustainable energy. “Speakers are expected to include practitioners with hands-on experience in climate policy development, energy market regulation, and the deployment of renewable energy,” Kydyrbekov noted.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin announced that this year’s Astana International Forum will be held entirely through sponsorship, with no funding from the state budget.
