QAZAQ GREEN. The capacity of a new wind power plant in the Shelek corridor of Almaty region will be increased up to 300 MW. Samruk Energy’s press office said after the official launch of the wind farm on September 12, 2022.

According to the press office, Samruk-Kazyna JSC and PowerChina Resources Ltd signed the Memorandum of Cooperation to start the second phase of the project on increasing the capacity of the Shelek Wind Farm up to 300 megawatt.

At the moment the capacity of wind farm with 24 turbines is 60 MW. The wind farm will generate 226 million kWh of electricity per year. Substation, related infrastructure, overhead lines have been built. The cost of the project is 37.4 billion tenge.

The event was attended by Almasadam Satkaliyev, Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, Bolat Akchulakov, Minister of Energy of RK, Marat Sultangaziyev, Akim of Almaty Region, Serik Tyutebayev, Acting Chairman of Samruk-Energy JSC,President of China PowerChina Resources Ltd, and Deputy Consul General of China in Almaty.
