Tokayev: Good weather conditions and land availability can make Kazakhstan a leader in RES

QAZAQ GREEN.  President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with CEOs of major American companies in New York, the press service of Akorda reported.

President’s visit to New York opened with a working breakfast meeting with the CEOs of global financial institutions, including Chevron, ExxonMobil, Fluor, Shell USA, The Solar Turbines, S&P Global, Centrus Energy Corporation, Boeing, Amway, GE International Markets, Honeywell UOP, Philip Morris, Procter & Gamble, Baker Hughes, John Deere, Bechtel, Halliburton, Valmont, Champion Foods, PepsiCo, MasterCard, Citi, McLarty Associates, Macro-Advisory LTD, Private Equity Fund RCF, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, Greenenberg Traurig LLP, Microsoft, Coursera, StartX, EPAM, Wabtec Corporation, Zscaler, DoorDash, Amazon, Pfizer, Medtronic, Netflix.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also participated in the Kazakh-American investment roundtable.

President Tokayev gave detailed information about the economic potential of Kazakhstan and the measures taken to increase investment attractiveness. In particular, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev informed about the opportunities for implementing joint investment projects in the energy, agricultural, industrial, transport and logistics sectors, in the areas of digitalization, finance and renewable energy sources.

“In Kazakhstan, we have pledged the total transformation of the oil- and coal-dependent energy sector into a Net Zero economy by 2060. By 2030, we intend to make a breakthrough in increasing the share of renewables in the energy balance from the current 4% to 15%," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

He noted that good weather conditions (wind and sun conditions) and land availability can make Kazakhstan a leader in this sector
