100 MW wind farm to be built in Astana

QAZAQ GREEN.  A wind power station is planned to be built in Astana at the expense of foreign funds, said Astana Akim Altay Kulginov, the official website of the city Akimat reports.

"We are planning to build a wind power station (WPS) in the capital at the expense of foreign private funds. This issue is being worked out together with representatives of the Italian Eni, through its subsidiary Arm Wind LLP and the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan. At the first stage, the capacity of the wind power plant will be 50 MW with further possible increases up to 100 MW. This project in the sphere of renewable energy sources will create an additional significant amount of electricity, thereby providing power to future development areas," Altai Kulginov said.

The amount of foreign private investment attracted is nearly 50 billion tenge, he said. At the moment, a feasibility study is underway.
