Kazakhstan conducting hydrogen energy research

QAZAQ GREEN.  Kazakhstan is studying the hydrogen energy as a promising area for further development of the energy industry in Kazakhstan. This was announced by Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov at the Plenary session "Development of the oil and gas industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan: new scenarios" in the framework of the 28th Kazakhstan International Exhibition and Conference "Oil and Gas" (KIOGE).

“I would also like to note the role of hydrogen energy as one of the promising areas for the further development of the energy industry in Kazakhstan.

We are currently conducting research in 3 areas:

• Hydrogen production;

• Transportation and storage of hydrogen;

• Converting hydrogen into electricity,” he said.

Renewable energy sources will serve as an external source for the production of hydrogen by electrolysis in the study - which is in line with the developing global concept of "Green Hydrogen", he said.

Akchulakov also spoke about Kazakhstan's short-term plans for renewable energy.
