Kazakhstan holds centralised auction of electricity capacity for the Northern and Southern zones of the UES
QAZAQ GREEN. On November 19, 2022, centralised auctions for electricity capacity in the Northern and Southern zones of UES of Kazakhstan were held on the KOREM JSC trading platform. The auction included the transmission capacity of transmission lines linking the Northern and Southern zones of UES of Kazakhstan.
The Unified Purchaser and the System Operator provided KOREM JSC with the following initial parameters for centralized bidding of electric capacity:
Forecast demand for electric capacity in the Northern and Southern zones of UES RK - 6,044.4 MW, including for the Northern zone of UES RK - 4,506.1 MW and for the Southern zone of UES RK - 1,538.3 MW;
The capacity of transmission lines linking the northern and southern zones of UES of RK - 900 MW;
The maximum tariff for the service of maintaining electric capacity availability is 590 thousand KZT/MW per month (excluding VAT).
23 energy-generating organisations took part in the centralised auction of electric capacity.
According to the results of the centralized auction of electric capacity, the total volume of sold capacity in the Northern and Southern zones of UES was 6,044.4 MW, including 5,354.4 MW in the Northern zone of UES of Kazakhstan and 690 MW in the Southern zone of UES of Kazakhstan. The quantity of concluded transactions in the trading system amounted to 23. The weighted average price according to the results of centralized trades of electric capacity was 589.96 thousand KZT/MW per month (excluding VAT).
The total volume of bids of energy-generating organisations submitted to the trading system amounted to 7,616 MW.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan Electricity Association LLC observed the centralised auction of electric capacity.
