Azerbaijan to promote renewables in heat energy sector

QAZAQ GREEN. Azerbaijan plans to boost the use of renewable energy sources (RES) in the production of heat energy, as outlined in the draft law "On Heat Supply" discussed today by the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Committee on Natural Resources, Energy, and Ecology, Day.Az reports.
The legislation proposes regulatory incentives to encourage the integration of renewables into the country’s heating sector, aligning with the existing law "On the Rational Use and Energy Efficiency of Energy Resources".
The draft also mandates that the use of water in thermal energy generation comply with the Water Code and other legal frameworks. Environmental responsibility will be a key requirement for heat supply entities, which must follow technical regulations and adopt measures to reduce their environmental footprint.
The initiative is part of Azerbaijan’s broader effort to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in its heat supply system.
