Oxan Energy to build Estonia's first floating offshore wind farm

QAZAQ GREEN. French company Oxan Energy has won the tender to construct Estonia's first floating offshore wind farm (OWF). The "Saare 1" project, developed in partnership with financial advisor SNOW, is designed for a capacity of up to 900 MW, Oxan Energy reports.
The Saare 1 site is located 60 km off the coast of Saaremaa Island, covering an area of 88 km² with a water depth of up to 85 meters. The consortium will begin with environmental and technical assessments, including an environmental impact study.
The project plans to use floating wind technology, with the possibility of combining it with bottom-fixed installations. Final decisions on technology and wind farm layout will be made after the completion of the studies. The project is expected to be commissioned in 2033.
A 900 MW wind farm will be a significant step toward Estonia’s energy independence and will support the country’s goal of transitioning to 100% renewable energy.
