Chinese companies to build two wind farms with 300 MW capacity in Aktobe region

QAZAQ GREEN. During an official visit to China, Akim of Aktobe region Askhat Shakharov and the delegation signed five investment memorandums, including two projects on construction of wind power plants with a total capacity of 300 megawatts, the regional Akimat's press service reported.

A key outcome of the visit was the signing of agreements between the Akim of Khromtau district Nurkhan Tleumuratov and two Chinese companies — SUNGROW Renewables Development Co., Ltd and Universal Energy Co., Ltd.

Under the agreements, SUNGROW will invest $171 million in a 200 MW wind farm, with construction set to begin in 2025 and full commissioning expected in 2027. Universal Energy will develop a second wind power project valued at $47.8 million. This 100 MW facility is scheduled to go online by the end of 2025. Together, the projects will create 65 new jobs and strengthen the region’s energy security through modern renewable energy solutions.

In addition to green energy, several other industrial projects were also formalized. Akim of Mugalzhar district Darkhan Ermaganbetov signed a memorandum with Yima Machinery Co., Ltd on the construction of a plant to produce medium-carbon alloy steel. The project includes equipment import, production localization, and the creation of 60 new jobs.

Another significant agreement involves the development of the Benkala copper deposit in Aitekebi district. This memorandum was signed by Deputy Akim Abzal Abdikarimov along with China Non-Ferrous Mining and Kazakhstan’s SM Minerals. The project aims to boost the region’s mining industry with new investment and technical capabilities.

In the city of Xi’an, a framework agreement was also signed between AqtobeCem LLP and Sinoma (Suzhou) Construction Co., Ltd for the construction of a cement plant in the Alga district. The facility, designed to produce 5,000 tonnes of clinker per day, is valued at $220 million. The parties reviewed the current status of the project and confirmed the timeline for construction and installation works.
