Toyota unveils its pint-sized FT-Me EV concept

QAZAQ GREEN. Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has introduced the FT-Me, a cutting-edge all-electric micromobility concept that blends premium design with affordability. Inspired by Toyota’s mobility innovations for the Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the FT-Me is designed to meet the evolving needs of urban dwellers while addressing modern city challenges.
Measuring under 2.5 meters in length, this compact two-seater is highly manoeuvrable and can fit into half a standard parking space, or even one-third when perpendicular parking is available. Its jet helmet-inspired styling features a bold black-and-white bi-tone design, emphasizing safety, durability, and a lightweight yet rugged character.
The FT-Me is accessible to drivers with entry-level licences, including teenagers as young as 14 in certain markets. Designed for versatility, it caters to both young drivers and professionals with customizable features. A unique 360-degree visibility concept enhances safety by ensuring maximum eye contact with other road users. Additionally, its advanced connectivity features enable seamless smartphone integration for keyless access and service controls.
A key innovation of the FT-Me is its fully hand-operated driving system, allowing wheelchair users to drive without modifications. Sustainability is also at the heart of the design—Toyota has maximized the use of recycled materials, aiming to cut its carbon footprint by 90% compared to conventional city cars. The vehicle’s energy-efficient powertrain consumes three times less energy per kilometre than a typical battery-electric car.
A standout feature is the FT-Me’s solar panel roof, which can charge the main battery, adding 20 to 30 km of range per day in urban settings—potentially eliminating the need for plug-in charging under favorable conditions.
With the FT-Me, Toyota embraces its "Mobility for All" philosophy, offering a practical and stylish solution for both young drivers and those looking to downsize in an evolving urban landscape. As cities continue to transform, the FT-Me represents a step toward an inclusive, sustainable mobility ecosystem for people, goods, and services.
