France prepares for 4°c temperature rise by 2100

QAZAQ GREEN. France has unveiled its third national climate adaptation plan, outlining 52 measures to prepare for a possible 4°C temperature increase by the end of the century. Presented by Ecological Transition Minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the plan follows two years of work and public consultation, according to French media.
It sets climate adaptation targets based on projections from Météo-France, planning for a 2°C rise by 2030, 2.7°C by 2050, and 4°C by 2100. Key measures include a national risk exposure map, insurance protections for high-risk areas, and improving housing resilience.
Nearly €600 million will be allocated, with additional funds from water agencies. However, experts warn this is far from enough, with estimates suggesting billions more are needed annually.
While environmental groups welcome the plan, they doubt its implementation. The High Council for Climate has called for a major scale-up, and the Court of Auditors warns of urgent investment needs. The government will monitor progress and work closely with local authorities to ensure action.
