Huasun achieves record 34.02% efficiency in HJT-perovskite tandem solar cells

QAZAQ GREEN. Chinese solar manufacturer Huasun Energy has achieved dual breakthroughs in crystalline silicon heterojunction (HJT) and perovskite tandem solar cell technology, recording 34.02% efficiency in laboratory conditions and 29.01% efficiency in production-scale cells.
The laboratory achievement used a 1 cm² cell, while the production milestone was demonstrated on a large 210 HP cell manufactured on Huasun's industrial production line. The results represent significant progress in bridging laboratory research with commercial manufacturing.
The laboratory breakthrough employed a dual passivation strategy combining physical field effects and chemical bonds to reduce interfacial losses. The research team also utilized new perovskite crystallization additives and high-mobility carrier transport materials to optimize grain orientation and interface stability.
For industrial-scale production, Huasun developed large-texture thin-film deposition technology to ensure uniform coating on complex cell surfaces. The company introduced organic stabilizers to improve deposition uniformity and environmental stability, while new interface transport materials enhanced process reliability.
The 29.01% efficiency achieved in production represents nearly a 4% improvement over single-junction crystalline silicon solar cells. Industry analysts note that tandem solar cells are considered crucial for surpassing traditional silicon efficiency limits.
When tandem cell efficiency exceeds 30%, solar power generation costs could fall below one cent per watt, potentially making green hydrogen production and large-scale energy storage more economically viable.
