KOREM hosts its first-ever 1000 MW Wind Power Auction

QAZAQ GREEN. Results announced for Wind Power Auction with energy storage system, total capacity of 1000 MW.
On April 15, 2025, the first auction for the selection of renewable energy projects for the construction of a 1000 MW wind power plant in the Northern Zone of the Republic of Kazakhstan was successfully held on the trading platform of KOREM JSC.
Four companies were pre-qualified to participate in the auction. Over the course of the trading session, a total of 20 price bids were submitted, with the combined proposed capacity reaching 4000 MW—four times the available volume. Bid prices submitted by participants ranged from 22.68 to 18.72 KZT/kWh, reflecting competitive interest in the large-scale project.
Following the auction, Turan Wind Energy LLP was declared the winner, offering the lowest bid price of 18.72 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT) for the full 1000 MW of installed capacity.
Observers from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, KazEnergu, and the RES Association Qazaq Green monitored the auction process. All observers confirmed the transparency and efficiency of the electronic trading system operated by KOREM JSC.
