Two hybrid energy complexes to be commissioned in Yakutia in 2025

QAZAQ GREEN. Yakutia is set to commission two more hybrid energy complexes in 2025, according to the Yakutia 24 news portal, citing the press service of the region’s head and government. The announcement was made by the head of the republic, Aysen Nikolaev, during a meeting of the Russian Federation’s State Council Commission on Energy.
The initiative is being carried out in partnership with RusHydro. Previously, 12 automated hybrid energy complexes with a total capacity of 13.7 MW were successfully launched.
"This has already led to savings of 1,650 tonnes of diesel fuel in 2024 alone. Further modernization efforts are planned for 61 energy service facilities, including the commissioning of two new hybrid energy complexes in 2025—one in the settlement of Sangar in Kobyaisky District and another in the village of Kuydusun in Oymyakonsky District," Nikolaev stated.
These settlements are completely isolated from centralized power grids, and with winter temperatures dropping below -60°C, ensuring a reliable energy supply is crucial for both the safety and well-being of local residents.
According to Nikolaev, a total of 73 facilities will be upgraded using hybrid power generation technologies. The projects will be funded through energy service contracts with a total investment of 20 billion rubles.
The new facilities will incorporate modern renewable energy technologies. Each hybrid energy complex will feature a high-efficiency diesel power plant, a solar power plant, and an advanced energy storage system, all managed by a unified automated control system.
By integrating solar energy and fuel-efficient diesel generators, the project aims to significantly reduce fossil fuel imports and minimize environmental impact.
Currently, 64% of Yakutia’s territory falls within the decentralized energy supply zone. The region operates 146 local generation facilities with a total capacity of over 228 MW, including 30 solar power plants and two wind power plants.
