Decarbonization and sustainable development to take center stage at the 11th Annual Downstream Central Asia & Caspian Conference

QAZAQ GREEN. The program has been released for the 11th Annual Downstream Central Asia & Caspian Conference, which will be held in Astana from September 17 to 19, 2024.

This year, a particular focus will be placed on critical topics such as sustainable development, decarbonization, operational efficiency, and hydrogen production innovations, highlighting their importance for the region.

Among the key speakers and participants are:

• Heads of leading oil and gas and petrochemical companies in Central Asia and the Caspian, including KazMunayGas, KMG PetroChem, Uzbekistan GTL, QazaqGaz, KPI, and others.

• Experts in the fields of energy, investment, technology, and other related industries are also expected to attend.

Participants will discuss the impact of global trends on the regional oil and gas refining sector, ways to decarbonize it, and how to improve operational efficiency. A separate session will be dedicated to this promising area, where new projects, investment opportunities, and technological solutions will be presented. New major projects in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan will be presented with a detailed overview of investment plans and technological solutions.

Particular attention will be paid to the production of clean hydrogen. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan has developed a draft Concept for the Development of Hydrogen Energy until 2040. These issues will also be discussed at a special business summit "Hydrogen in Central Asia and the Caspian", preceding the main conference.

It is worth recalling that the annual "Oil and Gas Refining of Central Asia and the Caspian" conference has been held for 11 years. It is a platform for exchanging experience and presenting innovative technologies between local and international players. During this time, the event has been held in key cities of the region - Tashkent, Baku, Almaty, and Astana.

The government of Kazakhstan has approved a comprehensive development plan for the oil and gas industry for the period from 2023 to 2027, which includes 20 key initiatives with a total investment of 37.3 billion USD. This gives the country the status of a leading player in the global market and makes it a strategic platform for holding international industry events.
