COP28: Kazakhstan to develop 3 GW wind farms in collaboration with global energy companies
QAZAQ GREEN. Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Board at Samruk-Kazyna JSC, shared insights on the recent collaboration between Kazakhstan and global energy leaders during the World Climate Summit.
In Dubai, Kazakhstan inked pivotal agreements with TotalEnergies from France, ACWA Power from Saudi Arabia, and Masdar from the United Arab Emirates. The culmination of these agreements entails the development of 3 GW wind power plants in Kazakhstan, strategically distributed across regions: 1.5 GW in Zhambyl, 1 GW in Zhetysu, and 0.5 GW in either Kostanay or Akmola.
Zhakupov highlighted the significance of this initiative, emphasizing its role in bolstering Kazakhstan's energy security and advancing the nation's commitment to carbon neutrality.
Nurlan Zhakupov stated, "The total investment in these projects will exceed $4.5 billion," underscoring the substantial financial commitment and the transformative impact these wind farms are expected to bring to Kazakhstan's energy landscape.
This development stands as a testament to Kazakhstan's dedication to sustainable energy practices and its proactive role in addressing global climate challenges.
