EBRD plans to invest €2 billion to support Kazakhstan's green transition

QAZAQ GREEN. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, met with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), during the 36th plenary session of the Foreign Investors Council, according to Akorda’s press service.
In their discussion, they explored prospects for implementing joint investment projects across various sectors, including small and medium-sized enterprises, finance, housing and utilities, energy, healthcare, agriculture, transport infrastructure, and information technology.
President Tokayev commended the EBRD’s strategic partnership and its valuable contributions to Kazakhstan’s economic progress. Meanwhile, Renaud-Basso highlighted potential areas for collaboration aimed at sustainable growth, improving the investment climate, and advancing modernization efforts. She noted that the bank is thoroughly evaluating investment projects in Kazakhstan and expressed strong interest in further supporting infrastructure development.
The EBRD plans to invest €2 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy over the coming years as part of the country’s green transition program. Additionally, this year alone, the bank will invest $650 million in 22 projects.
Renaud-Basso also positively assessed the procurement processes of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, emphasizing the transparency and reliability of the fund's purchasing procedures. The meeting concluded with a broad exchange of views on global economic issues.
