Akhmet Yassawi University unveils 30 kW solar power plant to advance green energy education

QAZAQ GREEN. Scientists of Akhmet Yassawi University have inaugurated a 30 kW solar power plant on their campus, aiming to advance green energy initiatives and support sustainable development goals, as reported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This project, part of the grant program "Development of Research and Engineering Activities of Students through the Introduction of STEM Projects in the Field of Solar Energy," is set to enhance both the academic and practical experiences of students.
The solar power facility will serve as a vital educational and research platform for training future engineering and technology professionals. Students will have the opportunity to assess solar panel performance, study the effects of insolation angles, thermal impacts, and dust accumulation on energy efficiency, optimize panel placement, utilize efficient inverters, integrate energy storage systems, and engage in economic and environmental analyses. These activities will be incorporated into courses in physics, engineering, and environmental science.
To monitor and manage the plant's operations, the SolarMan SMART platform will be employed, enabling real-time tracking of inverter performance, data analysis, fault detection, and remote system control. This tool provides comprehensive information on current inverter performance, energy production and consumption, and overall system efficiency.
The implementation of this solar power plant is expected to reduce the university's reliance on traditional energy sources and promote the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies. It also aims to develop students' research competencies, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings and gain a deeper understanding of renewable energy's significance.
The university's scientists believe this initiative will serve as a model for integrating green energy and sustainable development principles into Kazakhstan's higher education system.
