BESS Forum 2025: Energy leaders to discuss the future of storage solutions in Astana

QAZAQ GREEN. On 28 May 2025, Nazarbayev University in Astana will host the international conference “"The Role of Energy Storage Systems BESS in the Energy Sector of Kazakhstan”. The event will serve as a dynamic platform for dialogue among business leaders, government representatives, and investors on the evolving challenges and opportunities in energy.

Organised by TotalEnergies, the Qazaq Green Renewable Energy Association, and Nazarbayev University, the forum will bring together key players from across the energy value chain. Please follow the link to register for BESS 2025.

“We’ve invited top global BESS manufacturers to share international experience in scaling up industrial BESS projects,” said Thierry Plezan, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Kazakhstan.

As the energy landscape undergoes rapid transformation, BESS Forum 2025 aims to highlight emerging investment opportunities, showcase breakthrough technologies, and provide fresh market insights.

“Kazakhstan has strong scientific potential and rich reserves of critical materials for battery production,” noted Zhumabay Bakenov, energy storage expert and scientist. “We’ll discuss innovations and technology in energy storage at the forum.”

Kazakhstan’s path toward a green energy future hinges on the integration of robust energy storage infrastructure. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) play a vital role in maintaining grid stability during peak demand and reducing reliance on imported electricity.

“With support from Huawei and the Ministry of Energy, our Association has developed a White Paper on BESS, marking an important step toward practical implementation,” said Nurlan Kapenov, Chairman of the Board of Qazaq Green. “We’ll be presenting our findings at the conference to help stakeholders better understand where and how BESS can be applied within Kazakhstan’s energy system.”

For analysts, consultants, and researchers, BESS Forum 2025 offers valuable insights, real-world case studies, and expert discussions on the future of renewables.

Key topics on the agenda include:

·       Energy Revolution: The Integration of Batteries into Modern Power Grids

·       Industrial-Scale BESS Projects: Global Implementation Experience and Lessons Learned

·       Potential for BESS Application in the Unified Energy System of Kazakhstan

·       BESS in Kazakhstan: A Strategic Imperative or an Overrated Technology?
