Renewable energy generation in Kazakhstan exceeded 8.6 billion kWh in 2025

QAZAQ GREEN. In 2025, renewable energy facilities in Kazakhstan produced 8.62 billion kWh of electricity, which is 13.7% more compared to 2024. The share of renewables in the country's total electricity generation reached 7%, according to the Ministry of Energy.
The total installed capacity of renewable energy facilities by the end of the year amounted to 3,537 MW. Wind power plants made the largest contribution with 1,909 MW, followed by solar power plants with 1,313 MW and small hydropower plants with about 314 MW. The capacity of biopower plants remained minimal at 1.77 MW.
Wind energy also accounted for the main volume of generation: wind farms produced 5.38 billion kWh. Solar power plants generated 2.04 billion kWh, small hydropower plants produced nearly 1.2 billion kWh, and biopower plants generated about 2.8 million kWh.
