Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan agree to jointly build Kambarata HPP-1
QAZAQ GREEN. On 6 January 2023, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov, Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Ibrayev and Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov signed a road map on implementation of the project "Construction of Kambarata HPP-1" in Bishkek, the press service of the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy said.
Within the framework of the signed Road Map, the parties agreed upon basic conditions for implementation of the project and outlined the forthcoming steps for timely commissioning of the Hydropower plant.
It is noted that Kazakhstan's participation in the project is carried out within the framework of agreements reached during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Kyrgyzstan in May, 2022.
Kambarata HPP-1 is to become the largest power plant in Kyrgyzstan. It will provide electricity to the countries of Central Asia and stabilise the region's water supply.
