Solar facade tested in Ufa, cutting shared building electricity costs by up to 30%

QAZAQ GREEN. Russia's federal legislation has lifted restrictions on the installation and use of solar panels and wind turbines in apartment buildings. According to the Ministry of Construction of Bashkortostan, cited by Belebeyevskiye Izvestia, the use of solar facades could reduce electricity costs for common building services by up to 30%.

"A pilot project has been implemented in a 26-storey residential complex near Salavat Yulaev Avenue in Ufa. Its solar facade generates 167,000 kWh of electricity annually. This is enough to power courtyard lighting, entrance halls, elevators, and intercom systems. In monetary terms, the savings amount to around RUB 600,000 per year for a single building. The next step is to scale up this success. Such technologies should become the industry standard rather than isolated examples," said Artyom Kovshov, Acting Minister of Construction and Architecture of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Recently, a delegation of specialists from Bashkortostan visited a manufacturing facility in Kaliningrad that produces components for the solar energy industry.

"During the meetings, we discussed strategic priorities for the development of the construction sector, the application of innovative technologies in urban development, mechanisms for interagency cooperation in implementing integrated projects, as well as support instruments for developers and investors that encourage the adoption of energy-efficient and power-generating solutions in the housing sector," said Adel Saifullina, Head of the Association of Developers of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
