By 2030, Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of renewable energy to 54%

QAZAQ GREEN. President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week summit, highlighting the country's achievements and ambitious plans in the energy sector, according to Uzbekistan President’s website.
Over the past five years, Uzbekistan has attracted nearly $20 billion in foreign investment into its energy sector and commissioned new energy capacities totaling 9.6 gigawatts. Among the notable developments are 14 solar and wind power plants with a combined capacity of 3.5 gigawatts and two energy storage systems with a total capacity of 300 megawatts.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that more than 50 major projects, worth over $26 billion and aimed at generating 24 gigawatts of energy, are currently underway with foreign partners. "By 2030, we plan to increase the share of renewable energy in our country to 54 percent. Today, green development has reached the level of a nationwide movement in Uzbekistan," he noted.
He highlighted the importance of cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, calling them "a reliable and strategic partner in green energy." In recent years, the investment portfolio with the UAE has surpassed $26 billion, with renewable energy projects serving as the primary driver.
"Together with Masdar, the organizer of today’s global summit, we have commissioned five power generation facilities with a total capacity of 1.5 gigawatts. Additionally, three more projects with a capacity of 1.6 gigawatts and energy storage facilities of 520 megawatt-hours are in the pipeline," Mirziyoyev stated.
