New record-low price set at auction on wind power plant construction in Kazakhstan

QAZAQ GREEN. On November 20, 2023, auction bidding was conducted for the selection of wind power plant (WPP) projects for the Southern Zone of the Unified Electric System of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 50 MW, KOREM reports.
Four companies were allowed to participate in the auction, and during the trading session, participants submitted 7 price bids. The total volume of submitted applications amounted to 116.5 MW. The starting maximum auction price was 22.68 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT). There is a reduction in the price range of bids from 22.68 to 10.49 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT). The lowest price from the initial auction price for the selection of WPP construction projects has been set at 10.49 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
As a result of the auction bidding, the winner is determined to be the company - LLP "Uranus Wind," with an installed project capacity of 50 MW and an auction price of 10.49 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be located in the Turkestan region.
Observers from Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, KAZENERGY, Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, and the Asian Development Bank took part.

Observers noted the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer - JSC "KOREM."
The next auction is scheduled for November 21, 2023, for the selection of WPP projects for the Northern Zone of the Unified Electric System of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.
