Kazakhstan's renewable energy share reaches 8.08% in H1 2026

QAZAQ GREEN. As of the end of the first half of 2026, the share of electricity generated by renewable energy source (RES) facilities in Kazakhstan's total electricity production stood at 8.08%, according to Energy ministry.
Electricity generation by RES facilities during the reporting period grew by 20.5% compared to the same period in 2025.
The installed capacity of RES facilities in the country reached 3,749.62 MW. This includes 2,058.95 MW of wind power plants, 1,375.21 MW of solar power plants, 313.69 MW of small hydropower plants, and 1.77 MW of bioenergy plants.
During the reporting period, RES facilities generated 5,104.5 million kWh of electricity. Wind power plants contributed the largest share, generating 3,379 million kWh, followed by solar power plants at 1,102 million kWh, small hydropower plants at 622 million kWh, and bioenergy plants at 1.5 million kWh.
