TotalEnergies, Energy ministry and KMG to jointly develop 1GW wind farm in Zhambyl Oblast
TotalEnergies, Energy ministry and KMG have signed an agreement on the development and construction of a wind farm with a total capacity of 1 GW near Mirnyi village in the Zhambyl Oblast, Qazaq Green reports citing the press office of the Ministry of Energy.
"On June 9, 2022, the Ministry of Energy, Samruk-Kazyna JSC, NC KazMunayGas JSC and TotalEnergies signed an agreement of principles aimed at implementation of the large-scale RES project with a capacity of 1 GW, as part of the execution of the order of the Kazakh president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, given during the meeting on the development of the Kazakh electricity sector on May 26, 2021," said the ministry.
The signing ceremony was attended by: Minister of Energy Bolat Akchulakov, Chairman of the Board Samruk Kazyna Almasadam Satkaliev, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Vice-President - Business Development Central Eurasia at Total Eren S.A. Antoine Garret, Country Chair of TotalEnergies in Kazakhstan Ahlem Friga-Noy.
It is noted that the A 1 GW onshore wind project will be with battery storage.
"The site of the facility is near the s Mirnyi village in Zhambyl region. Construction of the project is planned to be carried out in stages, and full completion of the project is expected in the period from 2024 to 2026," said the ministry.
The implementation of this project will allow to achieve the target indicators approved by the Concept for the Transition of Kazakhstan towards a Green Economy, attract additional investments, create new jobs, as well as increase the generation of green electricity.
