QAZAQ GREEN. Kazakhstan and China have agreed to implement renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 450 MW in the Akmola Region. The relevant agreement was signed on September 25 in Almaty as part of the Kazakhstan-China Investment Forum.

The agreement was signed by the Akmola Region administration and SUNGROW Renewable Development Co., Ltd. It provides for cooperation on investment projects involving the construction of wind power plants with a total capacity of 450 MW.

The signed agreement was exchanged in the presence of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Kazakhstan-China Investment Forum, according to Akorda.

During the forum, the Head of State noted that the portfolio of joint Kazakh-Chinese industrial projects currently comprises 260 projects with a total value of more than $62 billion. These include projects in metallurgy, petrochemicals, and energy storage systems.

Tokayev also emphasized the importance of further developing industrial and technological cooperation between the two countries.

A total of 10 signed documents were exchanged in the presence of the Head of State. They cover projects in energy, industry, transport, finance, automotive manufacturing, and other sectors.

Among the agreements is a document on the construction of an electrolytic aluminium production plant and an associated wind power plant in the Abai Region, an agreement between Samruk-Energy JSC, China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., and SANY Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., as well as an agreement to establish a specialized investment fund at the Astana International Financial Centre.

In addition, the parties agreed to implement projects in the automotive industry, urea fertilizer production, the construction of a multifunctional complex in Almaty, and the financing of investment projects in priority sectors of the economy.
