Kazakhstan adds new wind farm in the Shelek corridor
QAZAQ GREEN. Kazakhstan has held an official ceremony of commissioning Shelek Wind Farm with capacity of 60 MW in the Shelek corridor of Almaty region, a unique region for development of potential of renewable energy, the press office of Samruk-Kazyna JSC said.
Shelek Wind Farm is constructed near the Nurly village of Enbekshikazakh district of Almaty region is suitable for the construction of a wind farm, as there is a good wind potential with an average speed of 8.1 m/s.
The Shelek Wind Farm will generate 226 million kWh of electricity per year. The wind farm has 24 wind turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 2.5 MW. The facilities and on-site roads and access roads have been built, and overhead lines have been connected. The cost of the project is 37.4 billion tenge.
Almasadam Satkaliyev, Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, Bolat Akchulakov, Minister of Energy of RK, Marat Sultangaziyev, akim of Almaty region, Serik Tyutebayev, acting Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Energy JSC, President of Chinese company "PowerChina Resources Ltd" and Vice Consul General of PRC in Almaty took part in the event.
