"Aspan Energo” to build 50 MW wind farm in Kostanay region

QAZAQ GREEN. On November 28, 2022, Kazakhstan held an online auction for renewable energy sources (RES) for the Northern zone of the Unified Electricity Network of Kazakhstan (Kostanay region) for the selection of wind power plants (WPP) with a capacity of 50 MW, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan reports.
Seven companies were allowed to participate in the auction. The marginal auction price in the auction for the selection of wind power projects in 2022 was 21.53 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
In the course of the trading session, the price range of bids received from the auction bidders was between 21.53 and 12.97 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
Aspan Energo LLP (Kazakhstan) with installed capacity of the project of 50 MW and the auction price of 12.97 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT) was determined as the winner of the auction.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, USAID, Qazaq Green Association and KOREM JSC observed the auction. The observers noted that the auction was conducted in accordance with the approved regulatory legal acts and confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organiser - KOREM JSC.
Based on the results of the auction, the auction price reduction was 39.7%, which is a good result. Auction bidding is aimed at selecting the most efficient projects and establishing market-based competitive prices for electricity generated by RES facilities.
