IFC ready to invest over $130 million in renewable energy and water supply projects in Kyrgyzstan

QAZAQ GREEN. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has expressed its readiness to invest over $130 million in renewable energy and water supply projects in Kyrgyzstan.
The announcement came during a meeting between Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, Akylbek Japarov, and IFC Regional Vice President for the Middle East, Central Asia, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, Hela Cheikhrouhou, on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.
The two sides discussed ongoing and prospective IFC projects in Kyrgyzstan, with a focus on expanding cooperation in renewable energy, water infrastructure, and support for small and medium enterprises.
Japarov emphasized the importance of private investment for sustainable economic growth and highlighted the government's ongoing reforms to enhance transparency, reduce bureaucratic barriers, and strengthen investor protections. He also noted the introduction of a new draft investment law aimed at removing obstacles for foreign investors and reinforcing legal guarantees.
The IFC representative welcomed the progress made in improving Kyrgyzstan's investment climate and confirmed the corporation’s interest in expanding its presence in the country.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Japarov expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of partnership with IFC, thanking the organization for its consistent support in promoting sustainable development and economic growth in Kyrgyzstan.
