Samruk-Energy and China Energy plan to build solar and wind farms by 2028

QAZAQ GREEN. On the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29), Samruk-Energy JSC and China Energy Overseas Investment signed an agreement for the joint development of a renewable energy project with a total capacity of 800 MW, according to a statement on the Kazakh company’s website.
The project includes the construction of a 500 MW wind farm in the Karaganda region and a 300 MW solar power plant in the Turkestan region. The agreement reflects the parties’ commitment to advancing sustainable energy in Kazakhstan. The facilities are expected to be commissioned by 2028.
Earlier, on July 2, 2024, in Astana, a memorandum of understanding in the field of renewable energy was signed between Samruk-Kazyna JSC and China Energy Overseas Investment during the Kazakhstan-China Business Council.
