Renewable energy generation in Kazakhstan rises 15% in Q1 2026

QAZAQ GREEN. Kazakhstan’s renewable energy facilities generated 2.3 billion kWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2026, up 15% compared to the same period last year. The figures were announced by Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov at a government meeting reviewing the performance of the fuel and energy sector.
According to the ministry’s forecast, total electricity generation from renewable sources is expected to reach 8.8 billion kWh by the end of 2026.
This year, ten new renewable energy projects are scheduled to come online, including four wind farms, five solar power plants, and one hydropower plant, with a combined installed capacity of about 245 MW.
