Kazakhstan climbs the Climatescope rankings

QAZAQ GREEN. In recent years, Kazakhstan has made notable progress in the Climatescope ranking, which assesses countries’ attractiveness for clean energy investment. The country has climbed from 54th place in 2017 to 24th in 2025 among emerging markets, reflecting strong growth in renewable energy and an improved investment climate.
Kazakhstan’s rise in the ranking has been driven by increasing investment in renewable energy projects. The country has been actively implementing support mechanisms for renewables, including competitive auctions and guaranteed offtake for green electricity.
Kazakhstan is making steady progress toward expanding its clean energy sector. Growing investor interest and improving market conditions indicate that the country is becoming one of the regional leaders in attracting capital for low-carbon technologies.
Major international players such as TotalEnergies, China Power, Masdar, and China Energy have entered the Kazakh market. Over the long term, by 2035, the country plans to commission more than 8 GW of renewable capacity, strengthening the resilience of the national power system and diversifying the energy mix.
Climatescope evaluates countries across key indicators, including investment levels, infrastructure, policy support, and market opportunities. Kazakhstan continues to show consistent improvement across all these areas, opening up new prospects for the development of a green economy and the implementation of international projects.
