Sonnedix wins major solar energy contracts in Italy

QAZAQ GREEN. Sonnedix has secured 7.9 TWh of contracts under Italy’s Energy Release 2.0 mechanism, representing 11.7% of the total awarded volume.
The scheme is designed to provide energy-intensive consumers with stable and competitively priced electricity, with contracts fixed for three years for consumers and over 20 years for producers.
Sonnedix continues to expand in Italy, where its operating capacity has surpassed 1 GW. The company is also advancing hybrid projects with energy storage, including an 18 MW BESS currently under construction in Sicily.
In recent months, it has also secured 670 MW of solar capacity under the FER X auction and 10 MW under a program aligned with the Net Zero Industry Act.
CEO Axel Thiemann said the result reflects the strength of the company’s portfolio, while Italy head Mario Volpe noted plans to reach 2 GW by 2028.
Sonnedix is a global renewable energy company with a portfolio of around 12 GW, operating across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, focusing on solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
