Chinese Trinasolar achieves record 29.2% efficiency on tandem solar module

QAZAQ GREEN. Chinese solar manufacturer Trinasolar has set a new world record for tandem module power output, reaching 907W from a single perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem module. The result, verified by independent testing institute TÜV SÜD, also brings a full-area module efficiency of 29.2%.
The record marks the 41st world record in photovoltaic technology claimed by the company and represents a significant leap from the 808W output Trinasolar recorded just over a year ago — a gain of nearly 100W in roughly twelve months.
The breakthrough builds on the company's 210mm large-area tandem cell technology platform. Engineers improved the uniformity of perovskite thin films, upgraded interfacial passivation techniques, and refined spectral absorption matching for tandem structures — advances that boosted both conversion efficiency and the operational stability of the cells.
Crucially, the module is not a custom laboratory prototype. It is built to standard industrial dimensions and complies with mainstream industry specifications, giving the achievement genuine commercial relevance beyond the research environment.
"Our continuous breakthroughs in cutting-edge core technologies such as perovskite tandem cells have kept us firmly at the forefront of the industry," said Gao Jifan, Chairman of Trinasolar.
Perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem technology is widely regarded as one of the most promising directions in next-generation solar development, as it allows two different materials to absorb different parts of the solar spectrum simultaneously, pushing efficiency beyond the limits of conventional single-junction cells.
Trinasolar says it plans to continue expanding investment in perovskite tandem technology and accelerating the commercial development of high-efficiency solar products.
