Schoolboy from Abai region develops device for efficient solar energy use

QAZAQ GREEN. Ninth-grader Zhenis Bozhaev has unveiled an innovative device designed to maximize the use of solar energy, according to the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Bozhaev’s invention is intended to harness solar power for household purposes, reducing reliance on coal, firewood, and conventional electricity while also lowering environmental impacts.
To bring his idea to life, Bozhaev created a blueprint for a solar collector, sourced the necessary components, and began assembly. "I used a wooden frame and foam insulation for the collector, making it airtight with double glazing. For heat storage, I added a special tank and tested its efficiency,” he explains. The experimental unit, covering 0.33 m², successfully heated water to 30°C and stored 2,142,000 J of energy over a single day. By completing this project, we hope to positively impact our region’s environment,” Bozhaev says.
His solar collector could also be applied to heat agricultural or residential spaces and provide hot water. With agriculture often requiring water temperatures of 30-90°C, Bozhaev sees significant potential for such a system locally.
Bozhaev has already tested the device, confirming that it can fully supply a household with heat and hot water. Installing the collector on a rooftop, he says, makes efficient use of space and provides an accessible energy solution for homes.
