Mongolia engages Hanwha Group in industrial and clean energy development

QAZAQ GREEN. Mongolia has proposed cooperation to South Korea’s Hanwha Group in the fields of renewable energy and green technologies, signaling its readiness to support investment in the sector, Montsame reports.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Gongor Damdinyam, representatives of the Erdenes Mongol consortium, and Hanwha Group.
The government outlined its strategy to move from raw material extraction toward value-added processing and presented three priority areas for cooperation: coal processing, renewable energy development, and the establishment of an industrial park.
Plans also include reducing fuel consumption in mining operations, expanding the use of clean energy, and electrifying equipment. Mining companies under Erdenes Mongol are expected to transition to renewable energy sources as part of this effort.
In addition, Hanwha Group has been invited to participate in an international tender for the construction of a steel plant in the Darkhan-Uul province.
