Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan sign investment agreement on Kambar-Ata-1

QAZAQ GREEN.  An investment agreement was signed between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on the construction of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 in Jalal-Abad region. Uzbek media reported, citing the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan.

It is noted that the approval of the main tripartite document is expected in February and it may be signed in July. A consultative meeting of the heads of state of the countries of Central Asia is usually held during the summer.

Opening of the project office for Kambar-Ata HPP project is scheduled for September, and the development of the feasibility study is expected to start in July 2024. The exact amount of the project will be determined based on the results of the feasibility study.

In early January, the Ministers of Energy of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan signed a road map for the joint implementation of the construction project of Kambar-Ata HPP-1.

The capacity of the future HPP will be 1,860 megawatts. The HPP reservoir will have a volume of 5.4 billion cubic meters. The station will produce an average of 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
