Kazakhstan introduces over 700 MW of new energy capacity in 2024

QAZAQ GREEN. The Republic of Kazakhstan has commissioned over 700 MW of new energy capacity in 2024, according to a report by the Ministry of Energy.
This year, significant milestones were achieved in the country’s energy sector. Power Unit No. 1 at Ekibastuz GRES-1, with a capacity of 500 MW, was brought online. Additionally, Turbine Unit No. 6 at the Atyrau CHPP (65 MW) and Boiler Unit No. 8 at the Zhezkazgan CHPP (43 MW) were replaced, enhancing operational efficiency. Furthermore, renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 163.35 MW were successfully launched.
The modernization of these facilities is aimed at increasing installed electrical capacity and upgrading critical infrastructure. At the same time, the expansion of renewable energy sources has boosted the share of green energy in the national grid, providing Kazakhstan with additional sustainable capacity.
