Kazakhstan approves 2025 auction schedule for renewable energy sources

QAZAQ GREEN. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan has officially approved the auction schedule for renewable energy sources in 2025, according to Kazakhstan Electricity and Power Market Operator JSC.
In this regard, all interested parties planning to implement renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan are invited to participate in the renewable energy auctions..
Auction period: May 26 – November 12, 2025
Total installed capacity: 1,810 MW, including:

Wind power plants (WPP): 1,200 MW
-
Solar power plants (SPP): 90 MW
-
Hydroelectric power plants (HPP): 500 MW
-
Biofuel power plants (BioPP): 20 MW
Notably, for the first time, an auction will be held for the construction of a wind farm with an electricity storage system in the Northern Zone of Kazakhstan’s Unified Electric Power System, with a total installed capacity of 1,000 MW.
The 2025 auction schedule provides details on reserved land plots for planned renewable energy projects. It also includes information on the potential for energy transmission organizations to connect to power grid points, specifying capacity restrictions and the number of new connections available.
