QAZAQ GREEN. The suppliers of wind turbines for Kazakhstan’s largest renewable energy project, Mirny, with a capacity of 1 GW, which is implemented by the French company TotalEnergies, have been selected today.

One of the suppliers is a new Kazakhstani plant in Shu launched by Samruk-Kazyna JSC in partnership with SANY. On the sidelines of Kazakhstan Energy Week 2025, a Letter of Award was signed between SANY RE Shu Industrial Park and TotalEnergies for the supply of 200 MW wind turbines. Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna, witnessed the signing ceremony.

 “Today we have reached an important milestone in the implementation of the Mirny Project – the signing of a Letter of Award for the supply of 200 MW wind turbines from the new Kazakhstani plant in Shu, which we launched together with SANY. The plant has a capacity of 2 GW per year. This is not just a production facility; it is a symbol of the fact that Kazakhstan is among the leaders in green energy in Central Asia. It also means new jobs, introduction of advanced technologies, and strengthening of the industrial base, which will serve the interests of the economy of Kazakhstan”, Nurlan Zhakupov said during the ceremony.

The technical opening of the plant in Shu took place on September 2 during a teleconference at the Kazakh-Chinese Business Council with participation of the Head of State. And today, this local enterprise focused on producing high-quality products has already received its first major order.

The Mirny Project is a 1 GW wind farm near Mirny village in Zhambyl region, is implemented by a group of companies owned by the Fund (Samruk-Energy, KazMunayGas) in partnership with TotalEnergies.

“We are confident that the Mirny Project will be implemented on schedule and to a high standard in 2028”, Zhakupov outlined. “This project will be the largest in the history of renewable energy in Kazakhstan and one of the most ambitious in the entire region. Its implementation will make a significant contribution to achieving national goals for decarbonization and building green economy”.
