Solar energy used to dry fruits and vegetables

QAZAQ GREEN. Researchers at Voronezh State Agrarian University named after Emperor Peter I have developed a combined solar drying system designed to reduce energy consumption in the processing of agricultural and food products, according to Rospatent.
The invention (patent No. 2849111) integrates solar radiation with the reuse of exhaust air heat. The system features a solar air heater with a transparent cover and a blackened heat-absorbing panel, as well as a corrugated membrane made of heat-conductive material. The membrane allows the recovery of heat from the drying chamber’s outgoing air, providing additional heating for the incoming airflow.
This innovation cuts electricity use and increases drying efficiency, offering practical benefits for agriculture, the food industry, and related sectors.
