Hürrem Sultan hamam switches fully to geothermal power

QAZAQ GREEN. The Hürrem Sultan Hamam in Istanbul, built by architect Mimar Sinan in 1556, has fully switched to renewable power and earned an International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC). The historic bathhouse now sources all of its electricity from a geothermal power plant, significantly reducing its operational carbon footprint, сообщает Jeotermal Haberler.
Located in the heart of Istanbul’s Historic Peninsula, between Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, the hamam has been serving visitors for nearly five centuries. By adopting 100% green electricity, it has become the oldest building in Europe to hold a recognized sustainability certificate. The transition was carried out with advisory support from CK Enerji Boğaziçi Elektrik.
