LEGO Group plans solar park at Virginia factory

QAZAQ GREEN. LEGO Group has announced plans to build a solar park at its manufacturing site in Virginia, marking a major step toward powering the facility with 100% renewable energy.
The project will be developed at LEGO Manufacturing Virginia in Chesterfield County, with construction set to begin in summer 2026. It will include more than 30,700 ground-mounted solar panels with a total capacity of 22 MW, covering nearly 80 acres. In addition, around 10,000 rooftop panels will be installed, adding another 6.1 MW of capacity.
The company said solar energy is a key part of its strategy to reduce emissions and improve operational sustainability.
Construction of the factory is progressing on schedule. The workforce is expected to nearly double from about 500 to 900 employees by the end of 2026, driven by the launch of advanced automated production systems.
Total investment in the site exceeds $1.5 billion. The company also continues to support local communities, having provided more than $3.5 million in grants since 2022 through the LEGO Foundation.
