QAZAQ GREEN. One of Bulgaria's largest solar parks has been inaugurated near the Danubian city of Silistra. The facility is located on the grounds of a former airfield near the village of Polkovnik Lambrinovo, according to Radio Bulgaria.

St. George Solar Park covers an area of 16.5 hectares and is equipped with 400,000 solar panels with a combined capacity of 225 MW. The facility is expected to generate nearly 13% of the country's total solar electricity output.

In addition to its generation capacity, the park is equipped with one of the largest energy storage battery systems in Bulgaria, enabling it to supply electricity even in the absence of direct sunlight.

Martin Langham, Chief Operating Officer of Czech-based energy company Resolve Energy, stressed that the facility poses no risk to local residents, as the technology used to convert solar energy into electricity has no negative environmental impact.

The project is also expected to create local employment opportunities. Around 20 specialists will be engaged in the support and management of the system, and will receive training at a dedicated solar energy academy established in the region.
