Belarus sets 38.7 MW renewable energy quotas for 2026

QAZAQ GREEN. Belarus's Republican Interdepartmental Commission has approved quotas for the construction of renewable energy facilities to be allocated in 2026. The decision was made on April 17, 2026. Total quota volume amounts to 38.747 MW.
The largest share goes to wind energy at 18.186 MW, followed by biogas projects at 10 MW, wood fuel and other biomass at 5 MW, solar energy at 4.861 MW, and hydropower at 0.7 MW.
The Ministry of Energy has communicated the approved quotas to regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee. Local authorities are now engaging with potential investors and developing project proposals for new renewable energy generation facilities.
The quota system is designed to support the gradual development of green generation in line with power system balance and economic viability, while attracting investment to the sector.
