Uzbeks' income from solar energy sales grows ninefold

QAZAQ GREEN. In the first quarter of 2026, 45,200 individuals in Uzbekistan sold solar-generated electricity back to the grid and earned more than 73.9 billion soums in income, according to the Tax Committee as cited by Kun.uz.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of subsidy recipients grew 3.5 times, while the total payout increased ninefold.
In the first quarter of 2025, just 12,746 citizens received subsidies totalling 8.147 billion soums.
The payments are made under the "Solar Home" program, launched on April 1, 2023. Under the scheme, individuals who install solar panels receive a subsidy of 1,000 soums for each kilowatt-hour of electricity generated by their panels and fed into the national grid. The subsidy can be claimed through the "Cashback and Benefits" — "Solar Home" section in the Solik mobile app by selecting the "Transfer to Card" option.
