Auction on RES: three companies to build generating units with manoeuvre mode of generation in Aktobe and Zhambyl regions

QAZAQ GREEN. On August 23, 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m., an auction was held on the trading floor of JSC "KOREM" for the construction of newly commissioned generating units with a maneuverable generation mode for the Northern and Southern zones of the Unified Energy System of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Aktobe and Zhambyl regions).
According to the auction schedule for these generating units, approved by Order No. 73 of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 20, 2024, the volume of services for maintaining the availability of electric power was set at 450 MW, with a maximum auction price of 16,299,800 KZT/MW*month.
Ten companies were admitted to participate in the auction, and 121 price bids were submitted during the trading session. The total volume of bids reached 1,870 MW, with the auction ultimately selling 450 MW of capacity.
The price range of bids decreased from 16,299,800 to 10,500,000 KZT/MW*month (excluding VAT), representing a 35.58% reduction from the maximum auction price.
The following participants were recognized as winners of the auction:
• LLP "GazEnergyQZ" with a volume of 150 MW at 10,500,000 KZT/MW*month (excluding VAT);
• LLP "Energy Flow Generation" with a volume of 250 MW at 10,500,000.01 KZT/MW*month (excluding VAT);
• LLP "GES MYRZATAI" with a volume of 50 MW at 10,510,000 KZT/MW*month (excluding VAT).
Representatives from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Association of Legal Entities "KAZENERGY" participated as observers. They noted the full transparency of the electronic trading system managed by JSC "KOREM."
