Auction results: SPP construction price reduced by 58%

QAZAQ GREEN. On September 25, 2024, an auction was held to select renewable energy projects for the construction of a solar power plant (SPP) with a total installed capacity of 20 MW for the Southern Zone of the Unified Energy System (UES) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Eight companies were approved to participate in the auction, and during the trading session, participants submitted 53 price bids. The total capacity of the submitted bids reached 140 MW. The maximum auction price for SPP projects in 2024 was set at 34.61 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).
The price bids received during the session ranged from 34.61 to 14.49 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).
As a result of the auction, LLP "DALA SOLAR" was declared the winner with a project capacity of 20 MW, at a final auction price of 14.49 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be located in the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region.

Observers from the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Electricity Association, and USAID were present at the auction. They confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system managed by JSC KOREM, the auction organizer.
The next auction, scheduled for September 26, 2024, will focus on selecting projects for the construction of another 20 MW solar power plant for the Southern Zone of the UES of Kazakhstan.
